The Argument Against Evil: Is being Gay wrong?
I know it seems like this is a question we should be answering at the end of this list of essays, but I’ve learned it’s actually one of the first things you should ask.
Is being Gay wrong?
Most people, as stated earlier, would say no. And, to my surprise, most people don’t know that the Bible speaks against Gay marriage. In nearly all of the debates I’ve had on these topics, the people refuting me have referenced an individual who claims to be “a Christian” and is accepting of LGBTQ people. The people who are refute me know that Christians hold the Bible as their source and basic for their logic, so if the people who refute me think these people are Christians, then they obviously don’t know that the Bible speaks very openly against why Gay marriage is wrong.
So now most of you are probably wondering where in the world the Bible speaks about this topic. Let’s get into that
Let us start with a verse from Leviticus 18: “You shall not lie with a man as with a woman; it is an abomination.” (Leviticus 18:22 ESV)
Let’s unpack this chapter and verse. In Leviticus 18 Moses is talking about the law regarding unlawful sexual relations. What this verse means is that you shouldn’t have sexual relations with a man as you would with a woman (providing you’re a man). This can also be explained vice-versa as well.
Now one thing I’ve encountered a couple times when using this verse is people saying that’s a mistranslation. I’ve also seen a host of YouTube videos explaining why it’s a mis-translation. And while I’m not an expert in Latin, I can say that I don’t think all 2,000+ translations are wrong when they say “homosexuality”
The Bible clearly outlines that this is wrong, and hopefully by now the person you’re debating sees that the Bible speaks very openly about this topic.
